Invited by the German calligrapher Hans-Joachim Burgert to contribute a page of writing for a book of poetry, Michael Harvey designed the unusual script that forms the basis of Songlines. Lacking lowercase characters, we added alternative capitals in that keyboard position. The font’s title was inspired by the writings of Bruce Chatwin.
